Alexander Schneider is a Project Manager for Youth Justice Initiatives at the Justice Lab, focusing on national efforts to push for community-centered justice for young people and closure of youth prisons. He has more than 12 years of experience in the nonprofit and social justice sectors, and focuses his work on criminal justice issues. Before joining the Justice Lab Alexander was managing an environmentally focused workforce development program at Sustainable South Bronx and The HOPE Program. He previously coordinated an evening adult education program for people with justice involvement at The Fortune Society. Alexander has also been volunteering with the People's Education Initiative - a collective of volunteers providing educational classes at the women's detention facility on Rikers Island - since 2011. His other volunteer work has included two years as a Peace Corps volunteer, teaching English as a second language in Ukraine. Alexander has a Master’s of Nonprofit Management from The New School, and a B.A. from the University of Toronto.
