Helen Trenchard is the Interim Head of Fundraising Strategy for the British Red Cross, leading a team of experts to support the Fundraising Directorate deliver income to fund the charity’s work supporting people in crisis in Britain and overseas. 2020 is Helen’s 15th year as a fundraiser, and for the last 2 years she has provided part-time interim fundraising leadership, alongside her work as a trainer and consultant for local, national and international charities. She has a specialism in Community Fundraising, and since starting her business has led teams to raise £8 million and supported hundreds of fundraising staff and volunteers to fulfil their potential. Helen worked in-house for a decade at Cancer Research UK prior to that, working across Race for Life and the charity’s record-breaking £100 million capital appeal to help establish a super-laboratory in London, the Francis Crick Institute.  In 2011, when Helen took a year’s sabbatical leave from her job to be a VSO volunteer in Nairobi, Kenya, she worked for the Union of the Blind, building their capacity to attract resources.  She holds a First Class Bachelor’s degree from Lancaster University and is a very proud alumna of the UK’s 2016 American Express Leadership Academy.
