Daniel Khauka Nanghaka

Daniel K. Nanghaka is the Executive Director of ILICIT Africa, Chair of Outreach and Engagement Sub Committee (ICANN At-Large). Daniel has more than ten years of professional work experience in the social enterprise. ICT for Development, Policy Advocacy, community and Leadership development. To reduce child labor and increase children's’ access to Information Communication Technology, Daniel opened up a Digital Centre in his village in Bududa. Currently, the Digital Centre is powered by solar and is home to over 100 youth who now have access to ICT services and knowledge. Daniel was selected among the 20 emerging leaders courtesy of Ashoka EA and he has pledged to mentor and build leadership skills among the youth in Uganda. He has been actively involved in mentoring more 30 Youth Ventures in Uganda to become Ethical and impactful leaders one of his mentees is currently building his leadership at the Ashoka University in India. In 2016, Daniel was selected as an Impact Business Leaders Fellow at Ashesi University, building his capacity to expound more on leadership and investment. Also in 2016, Daniel was among the 30 inspiring change makers in the publication “Youth Innovating for Agriculture: 30 Inspiring Changemakers in Africa and the Caribbean”. The report introduced 30 young innovators, 21 featured with full stories, and nine other "innovators to watch.” In 2017, Daniel was among the selected cross-continental team of Youth Champions as part of the Ashoka network. Daniel has organized the AMEX Uganda Alumni and Youth Leadership Workshop in Kampala training over 30 youth in the leadership process in 2018 and 2019. The workshop was based on collaboration and innovation approach where the leaders got to develop new networks and strategic partners among themselves. Daniel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Certificate in Software Engineering (IBM), a Nokia Scholar, Certified Network Engineer (Africa Network Operators Group - AfNOG), Impact Business Leaders Fellow (Ashesi Fellow). Daniel was trained in Information for Collaborative Development at the United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR).
