LaShaun “Frank” Franklin

Instructional Coach, The Next Step Public Charter School

Washington, DC, United States

LaShaun Franklin is an Instructional Coach with The Next Step Public Charter School. She is a native Washingtonian and product of the District of Columbia Public School System. LaShaun is an Educator in her twentieth year of service.  Ms. Franklin has also served as a teacher and Administrator on the elementary, middle, and high school levels, in Catholic, Public, juvenile jail, and alternative schools.  Currently she serves in the role of Instructional Coach at the Next Step Public Charter School.

LaShaun’s experiences have had the benefit of providing her with a pool of resources, especially human capital and thought partners, from which to draw upon, when needed.  This has been critical, as she has worked diligently to convert her thirst for learning and knowledge as a student into fuel used not only to grow the same desire in her students and colleagues, but also instill at every opportunity, these same beliefs into the fabrics of the larger organizations and institutions in which she has worked, affording her the opportunity to reach and impact populations from as small as three to over one thousand students daily, throughout her career.  Her work has been a true reflection of her purpose providing meaningful, relevant, equitable, and socially just opportunities for student voice to drive learning, growth, and action.

LaShaun is a graduate of The University of Maryland, with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies.  She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Adult Education at The University of the District of Columbia.
