Amira El-Ghobashy is currently the Director of Development, Northeast, at the Obama Foundation, whose mission is to inspire, connect and equip the next generation of civic leaders and changemakers across the globe. Amira is in charged with designing and implementing a regional development strategy in support of the Obama Foundation and Presidential Center, focusing chiefly on principal and major gifts. Before joining the Foundation, Amira was Director of Fund Development at the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO), a nationally recognized workforce reentry organization, where she partnered with the executive team and board of directors to develop and implement an ambitious national expansion strategy. Amira was responsible for the launch of an unprecedented growth capital aggregation campaign and introduced regional capacity-building strategies to support fundraising in sites across the country. Before CEO, Amira managed programs, development and communications for a range of nonprofit organizations which primarily focused on civic engagement and workforce development programs. Amira was selected for the 2015 cohort of the Aspen Institute's Fellowship for Emerging Nonprofit Leaders and the 2014 American Express Leadership Academy. She holds a B.S. in Communications and Master in Public Administration (MPA) from New York University.
