Shai Fuxman

Shai Fuxman is a Senior Research Scientist with the Education Development Center (EDC), and is an experienced researcher in the fields of public health and education. Through his work with SAMHSA’s Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPT), housed at EDC, Fuxman conducts research and delivers trainings to support the work of states and communities to prevent opioid misuse and overdose. He has more than 15 years of experience conducting research in the fields of education and public health, focusing on the promotion of positive development among youth, particularly those from marginalized communities.
 
Growing up in Israel, Mexico and Venezuela, he is passionate about using the power of cultural traditions to promote prosocial behaviors. He earned his doctorate in education from the Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education in order to pursue his mission of promoting education for social change.
