Jaswant is the Executive Director of Deepalaya, a 40-year old non-government organization, working for the less privileged, with a vision of making people self-reliant. She has more than 15 years of experience. Out of which, she worked for around 10 years in the corporate sector. She moved on to the nonprofit sector as she did not feel satisfied with the 9 to 5 job. She had a desire to contribute towards society which brought her to Deepalaya. She is a company secretary by profession and holds a Masters Degree in Arts from Punjab University, Chandigarh, India. She also holds a post graduate diploma in journalism and is a columnist with the Indian Currents, a weekly journal. She writes fortnightly for the weekly on economic issues, child and women rights. She is also on the board of VANI, another nonprofit that works actively advocates the views of the nonprofit sector on certain policy matters to the government of India. As the Executive Director of Deepalaya, she looks after overall NGO management, fundraising, program management and monitoring & evaluation. Jaswant is passionate about children and enjoys their company and likes to read-aloud stories for instigating their thinking process.
