Jose Luis Plaza is a manager with The California Endowment and oversees work in portfolios dealing with immigration, disability, LGBTQ, civic engagement and communications. Jose has had years of service in healthcare, politics, immigration, government affairs, community engagement and education. Over the years, Jose has held positions as the Latino Vote Director-Florida for the Hillary Clinton Campaign, National Latino Engagement Director with Enroll America, overseeing implementation and rollout of the Affordable Care Act which resulted in over 4.4 million Latinos gaining health coverage, and a former Bill & Melinda Gates Higher Education Fellow with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Jose’s extensive community engagement includes being an American Express NGEN Fellow, New Leaders Council-DC Fellow and board member, President and Board Chair of the Latino GLBT History Project and a chair of the National Equality March. Jose’s passion reflects his personal and professional endeavors around immigration, racial equity, policy and underrepresented communities. Jose has a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University, a master’s degree from California State University Long Beach, and a doctoral candidate at the University of Southern California
