Cohort: Points of Light, Georgia, 2014

Nicole Gabler is from the deep, rolling hills of rural Texas. She currently serves as the Grants Manager for one of the largest Girl Scout Councils in the United States. Nicole also volunteers as a troop leader for at-risk girls in under-served areas of Houston. She believes that Girl Scouts speaks to girls about leadership and goal setting in a way that is accessible to them. Nicole previously served as an AmeriCorps member for three years as a tutor and mentor to youth in rural, Title I schools. As a first generation college graduate, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Sam Houston State University and Master of Public Service and Administration from The Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M. One of her greatest honors was the AmeriCorps “Getting Things Done” Texas Governor’s Award for her service and commitment to her local community. Her career aspirations are to expand the capacity and sustainability of nonprofits. During her free time, she loves walking her rescue dog Zula and exploring the nooks and crannies of Texas.
