Monica Iglecia is the Assistant Director of Shorebird Habitat Management in Manomet’s Shorebird Recovery Program. Monica has nearly a decade of professional experience in the social sector, with a particular focus on bird and wetland research and conservation. At Manomet, Monica leads the Habitats for Shorebirds Project which benefits migratory shorebirds by reducing threats and improving the habitats they rely on throughout the Americas. Through this work, she enjoys working with local partners at important shorebird sites to design and facilitate shorebird ecology and habitat management workshops that have been delivered to over 650 participants and helped improve over 100,000 acres. Prior to Manomet, Monica worked with Audubon California to enhance the habitat value of agricultural lands and managed wetlands in California’s Central Valley by working with regional farmers, industry, and public agencies. Monica holds a master’s degree in Zoology from North Carolina State University. She is passionate about achieving large scale conservation outcomes through collaborative partnerships.
