Antoinette Uwimana

Antoinette Uwimana is the Country Director of Women for Women International (WfWI) in Rwanda since 2014. She has 28 years of experience, which she devoted 21 years in the social sector and seven years in the public sector. She attended the Leadership Academy in June 2018 at Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is leading the Rwanda program to become an independent national NGO by June 2020. Since she joined WfWI, the organization has enjoyed many of success stories from the vulnerable women they served. For the five last years, more than 25,000 women graduated from the 12-month social economic program. She has initiated several program innovations in financial inclusion for women, engaging men to fight against gender-based violence, jobs placements and linkages to markets by developing partnerships agreements with the public and private sector. Prior to joining WfWI, she occupied several positions at Netherlands Development Organization as WASH sector Leader, Senior Advisor Governance and WASH Sector Leader, Portfolio Coordinator WASH, Education and Tourism Sectors. She worked for seven years for USAID-funded projects in Decentralization and Health Governance under RTI ARD. Antoinette Uwimana holds a Master’s in Public Health and a Bachelor’s in Demography. Antoinette is passionate about Philanthropic work and helping people overcome poverty.
